Is Santa Claus Black or White?

Marcus Briggs

Is Santa Claus Black or White?  --   The answer is...  Who cares?  He brings good gifts.

Let's set aside the fact that (shut your eyes kids) Santa isn't real.  No one cares if he's white or black simply because it's irrelevant.  The jolly old dude brings me gifts.  So here are three lessons racism could learn from Santa.

1. If we brought good things into all of our relationships, race would not matter.  Seriously, Santa doesn't care who you are.  He just seems to know what to bring you when it comes time to celebrate Jesus's birthday.  And as a result, we don't care his race is either.
2. Stand FOR more things than what you are against.  No one knows if Santa is Democrat or Republican.  We don't know his stance on oil drilling or global warming.  However, we do know what he stands for.  He is FOR Christmas.  Be for something, not just against something.
3. Invite others who are different than you into your life.  Does anyone else find it a little strange that Santa and Mrs. Claus are the only two people in the North Pole that are NOT elves?  Santa isn't scared to invite people who look different than him into his life.  As a result you get presents every year.  Most of the time racist people are people who have no one in their lives that are different than them.

Let's be more like Santa.  No.  Let's be better than Santa.  We can do in real life what he represents in people's minds.  Merry Christmas EVERYONE!  God bless you.

The Gender Ballot

Marcus Briggs

So it's Clinton vs Trump...  No, not that Clinton, the other one.  And yes, that Trump.  But the more people I talk to, it doesn't seem to be Clinton vs Trump.  It seems to be Female vs Male.  I have talked with people who will not vote for Clinton because "they don't think a female can do the job", and I've also talked with people who will vote for her simply because she is female.  What kind of messed up logic do either of these views come from?  It's like being back in the 3rd grade.  You vote for someone just because they do or do not have cooties?  What??  Well congratulations America you did it again.  You took what should be about one thing and made it about something completely different.  Female or Male shouldn't matter in this case at all.  Why don't you vote for the person you think can do the best job instead of against the person you don't want to see in the White House.

As you know, We Bleed Red is an organization that emphasizes the value of all humanity.  We are not interested in telling you who to vote for...  but please base your vote on something more important than gender.  Or party.  (now there's another topic for another time)

Come on America.  We can get past this gender devaluation by focusing on what this election should be about.  Let's move forward.  JFK once said "Too often we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought".  Put some thought behind your opinion before you go to the polls this year.  That's how we can reach gender equality.  Not by voting for or against a female but by voting for the PERSON you want to see in office.
